How to Target Gmail Ads

Tips for Improving Your Adwords Pay Per Click Campaigns
In order to get the very best response on your online advertising it is crucial that you place your ads in front of the right people at the right moment.

A not so well known method to accomplish this with extreme precision is to target google’s mail Gmail.

If you have Gmail you will know that as you read an email there are little ads on the right hand side that appear.  These ads are sensitive to the content of the email.
How You Target Gmail Ads
Create a new Campaign in Adwords.  Under Networks, choose “Let me choose…” and then unclick the Search box and click on the “Relevant pages only on the placements I manage” under Content.

When you will be creating the ad, make sure you put in the keyword you want to trigger the ad.  This is a word that will be present somewhere in the email.

When you choose where you want it placed, write mail.google.com/mail.
Outsmart Your Competitors
If you have some major competitors that are doing email marketing, you can place your ad in front of your potential client every time he reads your competitor’s offer.

You can use your competitor’s “from” name as a keyword or any other targeted content that comes with their emails.

If you have competitors who have large and targeted lists you will be reaching the part of the audience that has gmail.  This is an extreme advantage!!
Common Mistakes In Setting Up the PPC Campaign
One common mistake when attempting to target gmail is that you do not write the correct url.  The one to opt for is mail.google.com/mail  and make sure you add the /mail part.  It you do not add it you will probably see a very low click-through rate.
