Is personal development something you need?  Watch this short video and see if you recognize any of the reactions…

It seems silly.  The whole situation in the video seems silly… and yet the truth of the matter is that every time you have any of the reactions of the two persons on the escalator you are being just as silly.

Here is why.

Whenever you feel the urge to spend time

  • Complaining
  • Blaming others
  • Rolling your eyes
  • Feeling like a victim
  • Playing the martyr
  • Waiting for others to “fix it”…

…you are stopping yourself from doing what you really want, from feeling happy all while reinforcing mental programs that will stop you again in the future.

You have a choice.  You can spend your time focusing on what is wrong and never come across the simple solution.  Or you can look for the positive, asking yourself questions like:  “How can I take advantage of this situation so that it will be even better for all involved?”.

The Key is realizing that you have a choice.  We all have automatic programs that start running before we realize they are running.  As soon as you find that you are doing any one of the above…stop…and make the conscious choice of focusing on something that makes you feel better and puts you into a solution oriented frame of mind.

A big part in personal development is actively changing some of the automatic mental programs that do not serve us.

Use your feelings as your power tools for change. Let feelings such as guilt and blame be your indicators that it is time to shift your focus towards something more positive.  The results will follow.
